The consistently brilliant Mark Schaefer of ‘Tao of Twitter’ fame has struck again with another outstanding post. I may be biased as I use a similar analogy when training new people to explain the concept of marketing in general terms, but here Mark draws fantastic parallels between how we used to do it 1000 years ago and the seemingly ‘new’ ways of trading social media allows us to benefit from.

The really interesting contention of the article is that we’ve ALWAYS traded in this super personal way, and its only the advent of so called ‘mass media’ that has caused an interruption to this for the last 100 years or so. Social Media has simply allowed us to get back to where we have always been.
